I should give multiple choice exams...

Then, I wouldn't be spending full days reading and re-reading projects and lesson plans, trying to figure out how many points to deduct from each part of the rubric. Ah! Today, I finally turned in my last class assignment and so now the real fun begins- grading and finishing up these darn classes that I teach.

Other than that, we saw 2 cute movies recently- "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Baby Mama"...both very, very silly but the perfect distraction. Matt made some tasty pasta tonight and I spent some time with my sis today getting a mani/pedi (I've found I'm a better grader when I enjoy looking at my nails:)

This week is pretty busy- Still have class Tuesday night, 2 graduation parties for students in our program, a possible court appearance from the accident, and finishing grading! Next week is the International Reading Association's national convention here in Atlanta and I am presenting along with my adviser, so we also have to finish up our presentation! However, I am looking forward to having a 'real' weekend next weekend- dinner at the Levine house and Blythe's baby shower should be great.

Friday was Matt's cousin Alex's 4th birthday (also known as our adorable ringbearer). I don't think he reads our blog:) but happy birthday anyways Alex! We are sad that we couldn't celebrate with him in person, but we send a few of our favorite books that we hope he enjoys.

Hope all is well with everyone!

I passed! I passed!

Today was my oral defense of my comprehensive exams. While I was told 'not to worry' and 'just be prepared to talk about what you wrote', I really didn't 'prepare' much and wasn't sure what to expect. I remained pretty calm all day until right before, but once I was in there it was fine. I am SO LUCKY to have a great committee- They are all actually nice people and so supportive which is actually rare:( They threw some tough-ish questions and I pretty much rambled my way through some answers, but overall I felt good....and then they send you out of the room and call you back in to say YOU PASSED!!! The best words ever! I almost cried in front of them!

Now, I get to go celebrate....by going to class in an hour- yay!!!

Random talent

Too bad that my talent will never win me any fame or fortune, unless they start a game show called "Name that celebrity voice-over on a TV commercial". Matt is fascinated with the fact that he can ask me whose voice it is on any TV commercial and I've got it right as far as I know every time when he can't quite put his finger on that voice. Lowe's? Gene Hackman. Budweiser? George Clooney. Some car company that I can't think of right now? Patricia Clarkston. Purina? David Duchovny. Matt's tried to beat me and hasn't yet. He thought he heard the voice of Christian Slater in the Auto Trader commercial, but I had already seen and heard it and determined that it wasn't:)
I'm also pretty good with any celebrity voice in a cartoon.
Got one that you want me to guess? Let me know...

Oh, and yes, we do watch too much TV.

Happy Birthday Laura!

Today is my dear sis's birthday! She is now officially a quarter of a century (ah to be young again). For those of you that know Laura, you know that she is kind, creative, and laid back. She is a talented makeup artist and all around stylish person. One of her greatest loves is animals, with music and sleeping late close behind.

This morning, we are having a late brunch (if it is up to her, L wouldn't wake up until noon everyday) to celebrate at a great place around the corner. Later, after I am out of class, my parents are coming to our part of town to all go out to dinner. Laura's taking the day off of work, so I know she will appreciate the day of relaxation.

Here's Laura in action and having fun at our wedding. She rocked as both a makeup artist and Maid of Honor:) and I think that photos of her are some of the best from the day.

Happy Birthday Laura!!!!

Welcome to the world Berkeley!

Earlier today, my good friend Cathy sent me an email to say that she was on her way to the hospital and in labor. I think it's amazing that even while in labor, one can email! So, I'm hoping that all is well and for any news. I've been thinking of them all day. Can't wait to see pictures!

***Update- She's here! Berkeley Mei was born on April 8 and is absolutely gorgeous. It sounds like everyone is doing well. She is just adorable. This pictures are great. What a beautiful family! Congrats Kale, Cathy, and big brother Blue! Love you guys!

Ehh

Not a huge deal, but I got into a minor-ish accident this morning running errands...A guy pulled out turning left as I was going straight. He got a ticket and it should be fine, but it kind of put a wrench in my day...luckily, I made it to one of my schools to see my Dad speak to my student's class about being in Vietnam. And, I even had lunch with him afterwards. Later in the day, Sonia and Sam cheered me up for coffee and dinner. It's nice to know in these situations that I have a great husband, great friends and family, and lawyer Levine when I need help:)

OK, class is starting...hope all is well with everyone...
