Dear Josephine,
What? You are one...and now, you are almost 13 months. As you will see from all of the many photos of your birthday celebration, it was quite the party. You enjoyed seeing all the friends and family that came from near and far to see you. It was so much fun that everyone in the house took a verrrry long nap after the party was over that afternoon! We were lucky that our friend Cathy of Cathy Clicks Photography took such wonderful photos of the day.
At one (almost 13 months), you are truly changing every day. You've been in the toddler room for one week, and already you seem to be learning lots of new things from your classmates. I think you love being around the 'big kids.' You are making new sounds and climbing and cruising all over the place. You haven't taken any steps on your own, but we know you'll do it when you are good and ready. You've recently discovered your belly button, and love finding mommy and daddy's belly buttons too. Last week, you started to say 'hi' (sometimes) to people- usually perfect strangers!
You love to clap. You love to wave- hello and goodbye...usually goodbye as the person has walked away. You love opening the one cabinet that is not child-proofed, which is filled with your cups and snacks. You love music- anything with a strong rhythm and beat gets you bopping, clapping, or nodding your head from side to side. The Lumineer's 'Ho Hey' is your favorite song.
You love books. You've started to grab books, climb into someone's lap, and hand them the book to read it. That might be one of my favorite things. I love, love reading books with you. I get so excited imagining all the books we are going to read together.
At your one year check-up, here's where you fell physically:
Weight: 21 lbs, 20 oz (78th percentile)
Height: 29 3/4 in (67th percentile)
Head circumference: 18 3/4 in (96th percentile)...my smart girl:)
But the physical things aren't what matters. You are happy, healthy, and fierce. You aren't afraid to show anyone how you feel at any time, and I love that.
