Happy Halloween!

Dear Josephine,

You really got into the Halloween spirit this week:) As you can see, your mom may have gone slightly overboard in thematically dressing you this week (for the record, 2 of the outfits and your pumpkin hat were gifts!)

You are so cute that we could just eat you up;)

Love,
Mom

What a Week!

Dear Josephine,

Whew-we survived! Your dad was gone for five days this week. It was tough, but luckily we had help from your Mimi, Grandpa, and Aunt Laura. We missed him terribly and were so excited to see him on Wednesday night (you were so excited you fell-and stayed- asleep long enough to let mom and dad eat dinner at Six Feet Under). Today and tomorrow, mom has to be at a conference downtown so you'll visit the babysitter today and hang with daddy tomorrow.
This week, you also got to meet your mom's dear friend from the 5th grade, Shira, who is visiting from India. You also got to meet another good friend, Caitlin, and her son Ian, who were visiting from Nashville. You also visited your Great-Grandmother...it was a short visit because you were pretty fussy (your tummy has been giving you trouble this week).
You are 10 weeks old today. The best (and most challenging) ten weeks of our life.
Love,
Mom

Two months!

Dear Josephine,

Last Wednesday, you turned two months old! Your dad took lots of nice photos, but here are some from my iPhone. You never stop moving it seems. Your arms, hands, or feet are moving at all times.
We are so lucky.
Love,
Mom

From my iPhone

Trying a post from my iPhone...
Here are some pics from the last week or so. As you can see, Josephine is growing so fast. She's starting to really smile and enjoy being read to, which is so fun.

Six Weeks

.....has gone by so fast. Josephine, you are growing every day and have already met so many wonderful friends and family. You've ventured out to a few restaurants (and mostly behaved!), done a 5K,  gone for lots of walks and car rides (especially when you are fussy and won't sleep) and even gone on a couple of shopping trips with mom. You've met so many people- one of your Great-Grandmothers, your Grandma and Grandpa from California, and Aunt Lindsay from New York. You are awesome- tiring- and sometimes puzzling- but an amazing gift. Even in the crazy moments when it seems all is lost, we just have to look in your beautiful eyes and we all know that we are doing the best we can. We love you.

You Are Here

Dear Josephine,

You are here. I can't believe that it's been almost 2 weeks since you arrived and changed our world forever. I really can't imagine what life was like before you were here.

Every day with you has been different, with its own challenges and joys. The first five days or so were quite challenging, but things get better every day as I heal and we all get more sleep. Your dad and I love you so much that sometimes it actually hurts a little. Most of the time, I am so relieved when you go to sleep because I need the break (to sleep, eat, or shower) but then after a couple of hours I miss you like crazy and want to wake you up to see your pretty eyes. Your eyes are the best- they are big and brown and when you look at someone, it looks like you are really looking at them. The pediatrician at the hospital says you seemed to be an 'old soul' and I agree. The moment you came out of the water and I held you, you looked at me with those eyes like you had known me forever.

Here are some pictures of your first 12 days or so....it's time for mom and dad to eat some dinner before you wake up from your nap (which should be any minute).

Love,
Mom
